About:
Purpose
The goal of the Human Relations Club is to instill a feeling of community and
solidarity within the high school. Every Wednesday club members meet at 2:40 for a weekly meeting. During these meetings, the Executive Board leads members in activities which intend on pushing students beyond their ordinary comfort zones. Club activities encourage member to get to know other students with whom they otherwise would not know. At the same time, students learn about themselves and evaluate their own beliefs on various subjects. Overall, the Human Relations Club is an excellent extracurricular outlet for students interested in making new friends and bolstering feelings of unity and openness.
Principals & Beliefs
Living in such a close-knit small community as Blind Brook, the Human Relations Club believes that it is important to enhance camaraderie in the high school. By “breaking down barriers between the grades”, the club reinforces its belief that high school students should co-exist happily and comfortably. The club gets members involved in activities that promise character building, teamwork, and
social skills, all in an effort to prove how rewarding it can to be open up.
Attendance
The Human Relations Club understands that students in the high school have more than just one commitment during Tuesday activity periods. Therefore,
Club members are permitted to miss a total of 5 meetings per year. If any member misses more than 5 meetings, he or she would not receive credit for being in the club. Attendance is recorded at the beginning of each meeting.
